This is a cover of Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by the Avett Brothers.



But for now we are young/ let us lay in the sun/ and count every beautiful thing/ we can see.

I can't tell you how many times and in how many different journals I've inscribed those words in the last ten years. I can tell you that I still do it now. 

As a reminder, as a directive, as the still lingering hope to become lost in the present without  clawing through the past or mining the unknown future for clues. To be lost in the present is such a gift, one I'm still chasing down.
