Alcohol can impact your eyes health more than one can imagine. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to a decreased vision performance. Alcohol may be responsible in impaired brain function and weakened eye muscle coordination. Alcohol can also impact the speed of the contraction and dilation of the iris. It is also proven that alcohol can lower the sensitivity of the peripheral vision which makes driving in rain extra dangerous.
Not only tobacco is bad for the health but it can also impair your vision. It is said that smokers have four times the risk of contracting macular degeneration compared to non-smokers. Even if you quit smoking the risk of developing a more serious kind of macular degeneration remains hanging in the balance. Cataracts are also a risk that comes with smoking. The clouding of the lenses may be worse in smokers compared to those who are non-smokers. Smoking reduces the levels of anti-oxidants thus it encourages more free radicals that can increase the risk of having cataracts.

Believe it or not, your eyes need to have some exercise. The simple eye exercises can help maintain excellent vision and keep eye issues at bay. It is great if you are able to do some of the eye exercises right after you wake up and right before bedtime. Just a reminder, make sure your hands are clean when doing eye exercises. When operating machinery or doing stuff around the garage, make sure you are wearing goggles or protective eye wear to prevent eye injuries. Impaired vision can be one of the causes of anxiety. And it should not come as a surprise. Protecting and caring of the eyes can save your livelihood and even your life.
